Hello. My name is Josh B. Fox and Faux Sounds is my blog.
Faux Sounds is inspired by twin purposes - to collect music to share with friends, and to create a kind of musical diary of what's happening in my life.
Although I hope to one day have more readers than personal (real-life) friends, it is really these friends I'm thinking about when compiling and annotating the playlists. Faux Sounds is my attempt to have the kind of conversations (monologues? rants?) with my friends that I rarely have these days, now that everyone's spread out all over the place. I think about them constantly when listening to music, reminded of their idiosyncratic tastes, and in awe of the way each of us have formed a unique relationship to the music in our lives, relationships which illustrate so much about who we are and what's important to us.
The Guest Lists are a way to further illuminate those unique perspectives on music. I hope they will also make this blog a community of listeners (rather than a one-man navel-gazing act), and that they provide even more music for the soundtrack of our lives.
Faux Sounds is not meant to be music criticism. By definition, everything I write about is something I like, so I won't pretend to have any kind of critical perspective. I think of it as a heightened form of music appreciation. I hope you will, too.
If you are interested in submitting a Guest List of your own, or have something else to talk about, email me at josh@fauxsounds.com. Also, you can follow me on Twitter at @fauxsounds.
Enjoy! ~ Josh B. Fox
